Job Description

Position Overview

In this role, you will bring our props, architecture, and other assets to life by producing high-quality textures and materials, playing a key part in crafting stunning, immersive visuals. Working closely with our 3D model artists, you will ensure each asset reaches its full visual potential—maintaining consistency, style, and technical performance.

Responsibilities

  • Create and integrate detailed, high-quality textures and materials for realistic props, environments, weapons, and other assets, adhering to the artistic direction set by the Art Director/Lead Artist.

  • Follow specific texture pipelines to produce all required game textures (normal maps, specular, diffuse, etc.), including tiling textures and object-based textures, while adapting to technical constraints.

  • Collaborate with other teams (3D model Artist, Technical Artists, Lighting Artists, etc.) to enhance the visual quality of assets.

  • Apply expertise and sound judgment to optimize texture usage, ensuring performance efficiency without compromising quality.

  • Be proficient with texture tools and maintain/implement structured engine settings.

Assist in developing and refining texture workflows and documentation to improve efficiency and scalability across projects

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in texture creation workflows using Substance Painter and Substance Designer.

  • Strong understanding of UV layout, material creation, and texture rendering.

  • Ability to collaborate with Technical Artists to manage texture libraries, optimize shaders, and improve workflows.

  • Experience in defining and establishing texture benchmarks and pipelines for different asset categories.

  • Mastery of PBR workflows, including high-poly sculpting, low-poly UV unwrapping, baking, and texturing.

  • Familiarity with essential software such as Photoshop, 3ds Max, Maya, and ZBrush.

  • Creative mindset with adaptability to various art styles.

  • Strong artistic sensibility, attention to detail, and knowledge of composition, value, and color theory.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate closely with other departments.

Additional Information

  • Experience working with Art Directors to plan texture/material requirements (including pre-production, resource planning, and visual aesthetics).

  • Knowledge of other third-party texturing tools (e.g., Quixel, Substance 3d sampler, houdini) or model/render software; familiarity with AI-assisted workflows.

  • 3+ years of experience in AAA next-gen game projects.

  • Project or outsourcing management skills.

  • Ability to create 3D models from reference images or text descriptions.

  • Basic traditional art (e.g., sculpture, painting) skills.

  • Fluent English communication skills.
