Job Description

Your role

As a Visual Effects (VFX) Artist, you will work closely with the Art Director, Lead Artist, and Project Manager to develop visual effects in accordance with the project's artistic style and technical constraints. Your responsibilities will include participating in creating VFX assets, establishing quality benchmarks for visual effects, and constructing the VFX production pipeline for the project. You will be expected to continuously optimize workflows to ensure both production efficiency and output quality. Additionally, you will serve as the primary VFX liaison in cross-team collaborations, playing a pivotal role in facilitating communication and coordination across different departments.

What you will do

  • Produce high-quality VFX assets that align with the project’s artistic vision and technical requirements, including but not limited to:

    • Character-themed skin effects

    • Character close-up effects

    • Weapon inspection/reload effects

    • Environmental effects

  • Document and refine VFX workflows, establish and continuously optimize the project’s VFX production pipeline.

  • Collaborate with animation, modeling, and concept art teams to provide VFX solutions and recommendations at different production stages, ensuring effective implementation.

  • Work with the Product Manager to prioritize, manage, and plan daily VFX production tasks.

  • Anticipate potential risks in VFX production based on project timelines, assist in risk assessment, and develop mitigation strategies.

  • Oversee quality control for internally and externally sourced VFX assets, ensuring they meet the project’s artistic direction, technical constraints, and deadlines.

  • Collaborate closely with the design team to understand and fulfill commercial requirements related to VFX, while planning production schedules and assessing associated risks.

  • Partner with the engineering team to implement technical optimizations for VFX, ensuring stable and smooth in-game performance.

Qualifications

What you should be equipped with

  • Solid artistic foundation with a clear and accurate understanding of AAA and photorealistic game production pipelines.

  • Passionate and enthusiastic about the gaming industry.

  • Proven ability to create high-quality, performance-optimized VFX assets across various styles and themes.

  • Proficiency in industry-standard VFX software, including but not limited to Houdini, Embergen, After Effects, Animate, 3ds Max, and Photoshop.

  • Expertise in multiple VFX implementation techniques, such as particle systems, UV animation effects, and other relevant methodologies.

  • Strong learning agility, capable of establishing and maintaining production pipelines.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a proactive mindset, ensuring efficient teamwork across disciplines (engineering, art, design, etc.).

  • Strong written and verbal English proficiency (spoken English is a plus).

Additional Information

  • Proven experience as a core contributor to VFX asset production in successfully launched realistic FPS titles.

  • Experience working on shipped AAA games is a strong plus.

  • Fluent English communication skills (both written and verbal).

  • FPS gaming enthusiasts preferred, particularly those familiar with Rainbow Six Siege.
