Ubisoft Bordeaux
Founded in 2017, Ubisoft Bordeaux works with passion on the biggest AAA titles to deliver the best gaming experiences. Today, the studio is composed of 400 talents from 20 different nationalities, working on licenses such as Assassin's Creed, Beyond Good & Evil 2 and a free to play game, BattleCore Arena. At the same time, the studio has set up a Tech branch which works on all Ubisoft's online services (named Online Services) as well as on the Anvil game engine. Ubisoft Bordeaux is also home to a R&D team, La Forge, which brings together engineers and researchers to work together on prototypes for game production, particularly around AI topics.
Job Description
As a Senior Lighting Artist at Ubisoft Bordeaux, you'll get the chance to use your artistic eye and your technical skills to create visually stunning gameplay spaces. Utilizing our in-house game engine you'll collaborate with fellow Artists, Tech Art, and Level Designers to create unique game worlds.
This is a permanent position based in Bordeaux and requires working onsite.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Helping to drive narrative storytelling through effective use of color, light, and mood. Using lighting to help convey emotional experiences.
Working with the Art Director and Lead Artists to keep the artistic style & mood consistent with our defined visual style for the game.
Proactively driving collaboration with other departments (like Tech Art) to balance aesthetic quality and performance requirements.
Identifying and helping to develop techniques and toolsets.
Maintaining quality, efficiency, and consistency across your work.
Qualifications
You have already worked on real-time project as an experienced Lighting Artist, from its conception to the ship
Deep understanding of lighting theory, and art/design fundamentals (including an understanding of composition and color theory)
Cinematographic and photographic knowledge: framing, shot scale, scene composition, atmospheric lighting, shadow play, etc
Excellent knowledge of lighting pipelines and cutting-edge art techniques (e.g. baking lightmaps)
Strong team spirit, good interpersonal skills and ability to work independently
A relevant portfolio of artwork (must include Lighting Art)
You are comfortable working in English to evolve in an international environment
