Job Description

As a Senior Level Designer at Ubisoft Barcelona, you will play a key role within the Level Design team responsible for several levels on Assassin’s Creed Valhalla to continue their mission to develop exciting new locations and story missions for an upcoming AAA title.

You will drive a highly iterative development process and help the team towards efficiency and design quality. With a player-oriented mindset, you will take levels from concept to fully playable prototypes, and further work with other disciplines to deliver fully realized, narrative experiences to a AAA standard. In addition, you will help more inexperienced members to reach the expected quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the lead designer to apply the high-level vision to various levels and their gameplay and narrative objectives.

  • Participate in the creation, documentation and tuning of levels to provide gameplay experiences according to the design and creative vision.

  • Facilitate communication across other disciplines to clear dependencies and ensure everything comes together and follows the high-level direction.

  • Provide support and feedback to other team members to ensure high quality.

  • Share knowledge within the team and mentor more junior Level Designers

  • Adapt to technical and production constraints, adapting levels and missions when and as often as needed to reach the expected quality.

  • Stay up to date on best practices to keep up with the industry & develop your skills and refresh your knowledge.

Qualifications

  • At least 4-5 years of professional experience as a Level Designer – preferably on AAA console titles.

  • Ability to design creative and interesting game levels utilizing 3D tools (Unreal, Unity, Maya, Max or similar 3D editor)

  • Solid knowledge of the game production pipeline.

  • Ability to apply critical thinking and analytical skills to resolve complex issues.

  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

  • Critical thinking, curiosity, resourcefulness, and plenty of flexibility.

  • Some artistic background, formal or otherwise, 2D or 3D, is a big plus.
