We are looking for a highly talented, motivated, and experienced person to work with us on XDefiant, a new multiplatform online multiplayer action game based in our San Francisco studio. XDefiant is a free-to-play, fast-paced arena shooter that combines intense gunplay with personalized loadouts and specialized factions, as teams of gunfighters battle for domination.

Job Description

Co-development is a unique and core part of Ubisoft’s game development philosophy. The co-dev production manager ensures the successful partnership and deliverables of our inter-studio collaborations, building and maintaining clear communications and process between San Francisco and its associate studios.

This role is a mixture of project management and diplomacy.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Production Management:

  • In collaboration with the stakeholders and producers in the respective studios, supervise the work carried out by the collaborating studios during each development phase of the feature, content or code.

  • Keep associate studios included and informed of relevant current milestone goals, priorities, and issues that may affect them.

  • Keep the associate studio/team on task and on-target. Know where the associate studio is tracking to their current milestone, keeping the co-dev producer and production teams informed.

  • Continually asses and mitigate risks throughout entire collaboration. Make suggestions for improvements to development processes, pipelines, and communication.

  • Contribute to the implementation of co-development mandates with collaborating studios, communicate the mandate to the teams, make any necessary adjustments and ensure a good working relationship throughout the production process.

  • Help prepare collaborations: communication networks, associate studio training programs, site visits, etc. Help to onboard new teams and transition teams off.

  • Ensure that the studios that are geographically and culturally distant build trusting relationships and feel part of a single, large team.

  • Keep documentation updated as mandates change.

  • Understand the game vision and priorities, to be able to intervene and guide when defining the Keep the co-dev producer informed on potential or actual collaboration issues and collaborate around possible solutions

  • Support co-dev teams when they’re blocked from achieving their commitments to the project

Qualifications

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Junior to associate level relevant experience in team coordination/management in a game development team.

  • Experience in video game production; technical or feature development experience preferred.4\

  • Preferred experience with remote workers and/or with distributed teams.

  • Ability to adapt to different people with different personalities and from different cultures.

  • Good listening and diplomacy skills; always looking for optimal win/win solutions.

  • Impartial and solution oriented; ability to see many sides of an issue.

  • Comfortable with Influential Leadership (rather than direct control).

  • Clear communication in writing and spoken, with a emphasis on follow-up and closure.

  • Bilingualism is a bonus.

  • Available for travel.

The San Francisco base salary range for this full-time position is $119,000 – $178,000. The base pay offered may vary based on a candidate’s geographic region, qualifications, skills and experience among other factors. Compensation details reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, stock options, or benefits.
