Job Description

As our new Level Artist (f/m/d) at Ubisoft Düsseldorf, you will be responsible for creating exceptional high quality and playable game environments with the Ubisoft in-house engines.

What you will do:

  • Design, prototype and implement stunning game worlds and environments for our projects

  • Creation of high-quality locations and environmental story telling by creating outdoor and indoor modular/unique structures

  • Close collaboration with the Art team and Level Design team to develop an exceptional player experience

  • Collaborate with Tech art, Code, Quest, and Narrative team

  • Asset briefing, set-up placeholders and final beautification of scenes with a focus on mood and storytelling

  • Scene management, asset integration and performance optimization

Qualifications

What you bring:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the games industry

  • At least one shipped commercial AAA title

  • A keen eye for composition, proportion, and sense of scale

  • Strong ability to tell stories through level art

  • Understanding and skills in lighting

  • Solid understanding of industry standard 3D modelling packages as well as texture & material creation workflows

  • Ability to work with level art specific techniques like scattering, terrain blending etc.

  • Deep knowledge of at least one game engine

  • Being used to work on tasks autonomously and to deliver results on time

  • Be forward thinking and anticipate the needs of your project with a high degree of self-motivation and initiative

  • Ability to accept feedback and adapt to change

  • Great communication skills and a positive attitude

  • Fluent in English and good communication skills

  • Understanding of 3d & texturing tools and procedural content generation is a plus

  • Knowledge of script and technical competency is a plus

  • Experience with outsourcing is a plus

Portfolio:

The portfolio should contain the following:
