Freelance Narrative Designer / Game Writer (Mindfulness RPG) Remote | $1,000 | 1 Week Contract

We’re seeking a creative and emotionally intelligent narrative designer/game writer to help develop the story world for The Hero's Journey—a mindfulness-based interactive RPG inspired by Journey to the West, Dragon Ball, and Avatar: The Last Airbender. The game blends contemplative traditions with sci-fi worldbuilding and gamified therapeutic mechanics, including AI-powered journaling and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy exercises.

Project Scope:

You’ll collaborate with the creator to:

Rewrite Act I of the core story content (approx. 3,000 words) based on an existing draft and detailed lore.
Polish and lightly restructure Act II (approx. 10,000-13,000 words) to ensure tone, consistency, and emotional clarity.
Draft 10–12 short, character-driven encounters (300–500 words each) to be used as modular daily content in the game.
Bring heart, humor, and player agency to emotionally meaningful quests.

This work will serve as the narrative foundation for a healing-forward RPG experience that mirrors the user’s real-life personal development.

Ideal Candidate:

Experience writing for RPGs, interactive fiction, or visual novels
Strong character and dialogue writing skills
Comfort working with themes of mindfulness, emotional healing, or spiritual transformation
Ability to work from detailed prompts and integrate feedback quickly

Compensation:

$1,000 flat fee
5–7 day delivery window (with collaborative check-ins)
