The VP of Developer Partnerships, reporting to the SVP of Strategic Partnerships, you will be responsible for ensuring that Scopely’s developer partners are set up for success, serving as an initial contact within Scopely and laying the groundwork for organizational alignment between Scopely and our partners. Scopely is looking for an industry expert who understands both the challenges that mobile game developers face as well as what makes the best partnerships work.

What you will do:

  • You and your team will be the first point of contact for all potential new partnerships with game developers
  • You should understand how to identify a quality team, what their core skills are and be able to articulate that to various internal stakeholders
  • You will need to optimize our developer due diligence process and have an understanding of how to structure long-term deals that set up Scopely for success
  • Articulate the Scopely vision and how we can most effectively partner with studios
  • Will be responsible for managing a global team
  • Willingness to travel internationally and an appreciation for the way business is conducted in different parts of the world
  • Develop relationships over the years and have an endurance style business approach
  • Develop strong relationships with premier independent mobile game developers and the key people they employ, gaining an understanding of the challenges they face and goals they hope to achieve
  • Keep tabs on industry trends and up and coming studios by obsessively analyzing the market, playing all the new releases, and attending industry events and conferences

What you will need:

  • 10+ years of business development, developer relations, studio management, production and/or mobile gaming experience
  • A deep understanding of the mobile gaming space and how it is evolving
  • A love of games, and particularly free-to-play mobile games
  • The ability to communicate in a clear yet conversational way, both written and verbally
  • Excellent listening skills and the ability to relate to multiple perspectives
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial approach; we’re looking for a self-starter who is obsessed with improving the way we work with partners and how great games are made
  • Creative deal-making expertise, complex deal structuring
  • A deep web of relationships in the developer ecosystem
  • Experience with venture investments and corporate development is a plus
