Responsibilities

  • Interface with Artists, Gameplay Engineers and Designers to realize immersive gaming experiences without sacrificing performance in Unreal 4
  • Work alongside Technical Directors to determine development guidelines, asset guidelines and best practices to push the limits of mobile hardware rendering
  • Establish a close working relationship with artistic leadership to determine and fine-tune asset limitations in a mobile rendering environment
  • Work closely with individual artists to properly communicate technical constraints, tooling, and issues with assets
  • Help enforce best practice coding standards laid out by studio leadership
  • Utilize, or develop when necessary, tooling required to gather, discuss and address performance issues
  • Debug and optimize and engine rendering systems, shaders, and related tooling
  • Thinking creatively and critically to expand user experiences into new mediums
  • Working closely with other engineers to contribute to game architecture and technical design when necessary

Minimum Qualification

  • 3+ years of game industry or equivalent experience
  • At least 1 shipped Unreal Engine title experience with ownership over rendering and performance optimizations
  • Experienced collaborating directly with artists, designers, and other engineering team members to bring gameplay to life
  • Industry experience in Unreal Engine 4 architecture, mobile rendering, tile deferred rendering, and related tooling
  • Experienced working with OpenGL, Vulcan, DirectX, and C++
  • Industry experience in 2D/3D math
  • Industry experience with Unreal Engine material editor and related optimization techniques
  • Industry experience in mobile rendering optimization
  • Experience with rendering technologies (i.e. mobile, real-time PBR, etc.)
  • BS Computer Science or equivalent experience
