Rockstar New York is on the lookout for talented Cutscene Editor who possess a passion for cinematics in the video games industry. This is a full-time permanent position based out of Rockstar’s unique game development studio in Manhattan.
WHAT WE DO
Work with cutscene directors to craft character-driven narrative scenes.
Collaborate with camera artists to build immersive and engaging camera coverage.
Collaborate with audio team, animators and designers to seamlessly integrate cutscenes into the game world.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Edit cutscene and in-game narrative scenes.
Creating cinematics based on scripts, from initial prototyping to final polished cinematics.
Set up cameras and actor staging within scenes.
Collaborate with 3D animators, 3D artists and other editors according to the Art Director’s supervision.
Self-education in cinematography and keeping track of new trends.
Proactively solve problems.
QUALIFICATIONS
10+ years' experience editing drama for TV and/or feature films.
Showreel or video examples of work.
Impressive portfolio demonstrating strong audiovisual narrative abilities.
Excellent understanding of film language, cinematography techniques and terminology.
Sense of timing and pacing.
Strong sense of composition, light and color theory.
Experience in directing/editing/camera (film, games, VFX, etc.).
Experience in animation or animatics.
Experience working with storyboards and previsualization to block and pace narratives.
Has worked with/alongside Storyboard Pro before.
Strong sense of comedic and dramatic timing.
Experience with 3D graphics program or game engine (Maya/3ds Max, Blender, Unreal, Unity, etc.).
Passion for videogames and storytelling.
SKILLS
Mastery of Avid Media Composer or comparable nonlinear editing software
PLUSES
Please note that these are desirable skills and are not required to apply for the position.
Understanding of video game storytelling techniques and mechanics.
Experience editing motion capture footage.
Knowledge or experience with 3D software such as Maya, Motion Builder.

The pay range for this position in New York City at the start of employment is expected to be between the range below* per year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
