As a Senior Engineer with the Collaboration team, you will develop services to help game creators work together and collaborate creatively. You will solve problems related to scale, architecture, design, and communication to develop software which allows larger and better collaboration between teams of developers and artists in the Roblox community. One of the main areas will be around our flagship Team Create product which enables creators to collaborate in real-time with friends and co-workers. You have either C++ or backend experience on large-scale systems and enjoys solving complex software problems. You will report to the Engineering Manager of the Collaboration team.

5+ years experience shipping high complexity code, and supporting mission-critical applications at scale.
Experience architecting, designing and leading implementation of a wide array of software products
Proficiency in C++, C#, Java or similar programming languages.
Understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases at scale.
Understanding of the components required to build modern large-scale infrastructure. You can recommend one route versus another and bring engineers to an agreement.
Expertise in component-based libraries and frameworks with a commanding grasp of building performant user flows.
Familiarity with QT/QML, MFC, or other frameworks for desktop applications (bonus).
Help and understand the needs of the community that uses our software, from beginning artists to professional scripters and designers.
Take ownership and responsibility for designing, building, testing, and deploying services within the Roblox ecosystem.
Work on a variety of unique technical challenges within complex systems.
Be a technical bar-raiser for high code quality, architectural designs, and long-term planning.
Develop fellow engineers on the team.
For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.
