Riot Engineers bring deep knowledge of specific technical areas and also value the chance to work in a variety of broader domains. As a Staff Software Engineer, you’ll work with both our technology, creating creative solutions to overcome high-volume obstacles and to provide player value.

As a Staff Software Engineer on the Legends of Runeterra Features team, you will develop tools and workflows that enhance and empower the development teams’ capabilities to create technology and content in an efficient and sustainable manner. This includes building new and improving existing player-facing features, and supporting other cross-discipline team members in doing the same. You will report to the Engineering Lead for Legends of Runeterra.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-discipline developers to gather requirements and discuss technical tradeoffs for new and existing features

  • Participate in and guide technical design and implementation of new features in the Unity engine using C#

  • Modify C# microservices to support Unity service calls for new features

  • Perform code reviews and ensure the technical quality of code produced by the team

  • Write unit tests and integration tests in Python to ensure high quality code

  • Creation and maintenance of team facing documentation for tooling

  • Coaching more junior engineers through code reviews and 1-on-1 feedback.

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in professional software development.

  • 2+ years working in a Game Engine (Unity, Unreal, custom engine, etc)

  • Expertise in Python and C#

  • Experience with technical design, programming. Solid CS fundamentals.

  • Experience mentoring team members to level up their technical capabilities

  • Experience identifying inefficiencies in processes, tools, workflows and creating solutions to eliminate these inefficiencies.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience developing microservices on live production environments.

  • Familiarity with SQL, relational databases, caching systems (e.g. Redis), and pub/sub systems (e.g. Kafka, HornetQ, RabbitMQ, etc.)

  • (Los Angeles Only) Base salary range between $178,500.00 - $249,900.00 USD + incentive compensation + equity + 401K with company match + medical, dental, vision, and life insurance + short and long-term disability + open PTO.
