As a Manager on the Wild Rift Data Team, you will shape the data architecture and systems that help provide an amazing Wild Rift experience to millions of players around the world. You will work on many different projects with many different teams on Wild Rift, from improving game design with our in game team to helping improve matchmaking with the around game team. You're a communication expert able to create efficient and clear messages to any size group or situation. You'll wrangle processes and organize teams to keep momentum building, promoting teamwork and continuous improvement across the organization. You will report directly to the Sydney Dev Studio Engineering Manager for League teams. Wild Rift is just beginning its journey, it will be your mission to make sure we understand the player experience through data and use that data to make it better!

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with our game development teams in our Shanghai and Shenzhen offices to maximize the value of data

  • Transform raw data to datasets that end-users can easily query

  • Work with your team to ship data powered products to players

  • Demonstrate a high bar of craft excellence for your team

  • Advocate for best practices and identify opportunities for the team to improve the sustainability of our portfolio

  • Manage a small group of engineers, coaching them, holding them accountable to best practices and their growth plan

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience as a software engineer

  • Excellent teamwork, team leadership, and stakeholder management skills

  • Experience working with Agile teams and the software development lifecycle

  • Experience developing operational processes from the ground up

  • Experience managing a small sized team of 2-8 individuals

  • Experience working with cloud computing and cloud technologies (AWS, Google, Azure)

  • Experience leading the technical direction of projects

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with related data processing (e.g., Spark, BigQuery, DataProc), storage (e.g., S3, Google Cloud Storage), transport (e.g., Kafka, PubSub), and orchestration (e.g., Airflow, Luigi)

  • Experience building large-scale backend systems (e.g. game services, data)

  • Experience developing an enterprise data warehouse spanning across multiple teams.

  • Experience with Databricks, Spark, and Airflow

  • Experience with Python

  • Fluency in English and Mandarin
