Riot Games values risk management as essential to achieving the strategic goals of the Company. Riot’s financial risk is managed by the Riot Treasury Team and is coordinated globally across all Pillars of the Company. Riot’s Treasury Team engages a variety of risk mitigation techniques to effectively manage Riot’s exposure, including the procurement of global insurance policies. The Treasury Team also provides oversight for insurance claims and loss mitigation practices, as well as strategic guidance on operational risk.
The Insurance Risk Manager is responsible for managing Riot’s Global insurance programs. This includes conducting multidimensional risk analysis on the relevant company data in order to evaluate and quantify the risk of Riot’s property, liability, cyber, events and other business exposures. This role will also be instrumental in developing systems to manage Riot’s on-going exposures and develop a cooperative and transparent claims management process, while ensuring compliance for all insurance programs.
The Insurance Risk Manager will work closely with Riot’s Workplace Experience Team, Legal Department, Esports teams, InfoSec, and Entertainment Studio to understand Riot’s collective insurance needs. This role is also directly responsible for managing the communications with insurance brokers and insurance underwriters.
Responsibilities:
Collect, audit and assess all relevant exposure data for Riot’s Property & Casualty, General Liability, Cyber/E&O, Events, Cargo and Directors & Officers insurance programs
Oversee the evaluation, design, and implementation of insurance programs, including defining the appropriate limits and retentions levels; determine opportunities for cost savings and structures for insurance captives
Develop and manage spreadsheets/documents to streamline the insurance renewal for all global insurance programs; develop standard interactive templates across the company to maintain updated exposure data for insurance programs
Manage the communication with claims administrators and insurance advisors during the claims process; coordinate internal documentation on all reported loss instances with Riot Legal and Accounting
Negotiate with Brokers to structure comprehensive and competitively priced insurance policies; assess opportunities for self insurance or development of insurance captives
Work collaboratively with Riot’s insurance underwriters, risk advisors, and internal stakeholders to ensure Riot’s compliance with insurance binders and corporate governance guidelines; review and assess insurance program binders, policies and schedules to identify gaps within Riot’s exposure
Develop standard language for insurance and indemnity provisions for 3rd-party contracts, and review contracts as needed in coordination with Riot’s Legal Department
Negotiate terms and conditions of service contracts with brokers and risk advisors
Manage insurance program accounts receivable and payables, and develop intercompany recharge programs with pillar teams
Monitor new business initiatives and conduct risk assessment to determine exposures; ensure insurance coverage for new entities, property, automobiles, and employees on a timely basis, including new acquisitions
Coordinate the annual audit for workers compensation insurance with the Riot accounting team; ensure compliance with the regulatory requirements of Workers Compensation
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of risk management experience in Corporate Risk or Commercial Insurance Brokerage
Experience with Media and Cyber risk management
Experience in handling highly sensitive and confidential data; familiarity with GDPR, HIPAA and other significant PII privacy regulations
Strong project management skills; ability to organize, prioritize and follow through on multiple tasks simultaneously and drive initiatives within pillar teams.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and basic macros; experience with Google Docs and Google Sheets
Self motivated team player with strong attention to detail and high level of accountability
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective communication across all levels of the organization; strong interpersonal skills to develop effective working relationships across teams
Proven analytical and critical thinking skills and financial acumen
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Finance or Accounting is preferred
