The sound programmer is responsible for the development of the programming relating to music and sound effects. In Gran Turismo, the sound of an automobile has the important function of providing information to the driver that will aid in their driving operation. The sound program creates engine and tire sound effects that reflect the vehicle simulation. The reproduction sound for a large variety of car models and engines, and the recreation of complex changes in sound is a challenging theme. In environmental sound, soundscapes that represent the beauty of nature, or a scene in a city, or the excitement and speed during a race, will be recreated. You will be developing programs that will render audio based on 3D spacial information, audio signal processing programs for applying acoustic effects, and production tools to be used by sound designers. With the advent of computing technologies in recent years, a high level real time processing has become a reality, and game related audio is entering an exciting era. We are looking for motivated candidates who have an interest in the latest technologies, and have the skills to implement these in the audio expressions within our game.

Requirements/ Experience

  • Programming experience in object oriented languages

  • Excellent spoken and written communication.

Desired Experience/Skills

  • Experience using standard audio editing software

  • Knowledge in audio signal processing, DSP programming

  • Knowledge regarding 3D Audio

  • Experience developing sound middleware and tools •Understanding of acoustics

  • Knowledge in acoustic simulation

  • Understanding of multithread programming

  • Interest in automotive mechanisms

  • Moderate (JLPT N3 level or higher) communication skills in Japanese
