Sr. Information Systems Engineer

San Diego, CA

SIE’s Custom Infrastructure IT group is seeking a robust and versatile Senior Systems Engineer to join our Sony family. You'll be joining a technical team passionate about engineering, building, and delivering solutions that empowers PlayStation Studios and more.

As a Senior Engineer in the Custom Infrastructure IT group, you will be responsible for supporting, crafting, and implementing technologies that benefit game development teams. Your ideas will support PlayStation Studios development and our local Studio IT teams.

This role requires a wide range of technical knowledge and industry standards we use to accelerate, optimize, and support the game development process. You’ll be expected to collaborate with a team of passionate specialists to create the best supportable infrastructure for building games. We have a phenomenal opportunity to co-own the success of the team with PlayStation Studios and greater SIE.

Requirements

  • Work with PlayStation Studios and teams within and outside IT to discover and remediate difficulties that can be shared across SIE.

  • Maintain and support customized Perforce systems environment flows, working with our developers and 3rd party partners to effectively prioritize administration, engineering, federation (cloud or otherwise), and integration support requests.

    • Share knowledge freely, assist teammates in learning coding, systems engineering, etc., and help raise the team's overall skill level.

  • Define and complete plans of action for tailored IT requests, or sophisticated incidents.

  • Actively participates in Systems Engineering efforts that help streamline the experience of our customers.

  • Able to coordinate efforts and bodies of work across the team with team and collaborator inclusion and empowerment in mind.

  • Helps support the work of peers by pairing, reviewing, and providing mentoring.

  • Promote projects and work being done outside the organization.

  • Serve as a technical liaison to help conceptualise new engineering efforts, providing guidance and vision the business requires to succeed.

Desired Skills

  • Top-tier knowledge of IT technologies in support of game, entertainment or media design.

  • Intimate knowledge and experience with networking, cloud, security, monitoring, storage, and operating systems as we tackle sophisticated issues in a team driven environment.

    • This encompasses a range of technologies that include cloud design and deployments in AWS, Azure or GCP.

  • Experience with config management/provisioning automation: Ansible, Terraform, or a similar tools.

  • Enterprise storage and filesystem administration experience (NetApp, S3, CIFS, SMB, S3 etc.)

  • Serve as an inclusive solutions lead across teams within and beyond SIE’s technical and development partners.

    • Able to instruct peers how to set up systems, services, and drive execution plans for features and system improvements.

  • Experience in leading technical deployment aspects of a digital and hybrid & remote workplace transformation

  • Ability to work well independently within a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

  • Exceptional problem solving skills with computer hardware, operating systems, and applications.

  • Knowledge of security standard methodologies and best-practices, partnering with InfoSec business units to ensure that PlayStation Studios’ intellectual-property presence meets security and compliance requirements.

  • Familiar and friendly to the culture of DevOps. Build for the future by automating deployments and crafting CI/CD pipelines. Aide and encourage junior staff members in this journey.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location. Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this role is eligible for SIE’s top-tier benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, matching 401(k), paid time off, wellness program and coveted employee discounts for Sony products. $152,600—$228,800 USD
