Release Manager

San Mateo, CA / Hybrid

The Release Manager is a vital role within the Global Publisher and Developer Relations (GPDR) / Global Partner Operations (GPOPs) teams. This person will Maintain a high level of knowledge surrounding the PlayStation platform and associated tools in order to predict areas of complexity and challenge, to then proactively work with partners and internal stakeholders in order to mitigate. The manager will ensure partners act in compliance with all relevant policies (business, technical and otherwise), thereby improving PlayStation/partner profitability and enhancing Partner satisfaction. To advocate the use of new systems, tools and processes to further improve the partner’s journey with PlayStation. Lastly, the manager will be responsible for the timely management and support of content being delivered to market, with high quality, minimal friction, and optimal transparency.

Responsibilities:

Problem Solving

  • Proactively identifying challenges before they become incidents or blockers and working with internal teams and partners to mitigate and resolve.

  • Working with SIE stakeholders to unblock partners from achieving their desired release plans.

  • Responsible for appropriately, accurately, and consistently tracking issues, challenges, partner requests and release plans for future analysis, reporting and producing and delivering presentations for internal and external use.

Training and Advocacy

  • Responsible for partner adoption of new SIE systems, tools and processes that aid in and streamline the transit of content through the pipeline to market.

  • Act as a voice for the partner internally to suggest new tooling solutions and feature improvements to established systems.

  • Ensure partners are aware of, and adhering to all relevant SIE licensing, submission and release requirements and policies in conjunction with all relevant internal teams (Platform Certification & Operations, Global Developer Technology Group, Supply Chain, etc).

Internal Process Support

  • Support partners during their development, preparation and submission (CertOps) processes.

  • Support partners in their timely and effective delivery of content to the PlayStation platforms, and act as a GPDR contact point for the partner’s submission teams.

  • Operational management of key titles with a view to provide tangible added value for partners.

  • Able to guide partners through their entire journey on the platform (from being first onboarded, to supporting a multi-year spanning live service product).

  • Lead the global legal compliance process for non-standard physical releases.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Primary external contact for Partner's submission and compliance teams.

  • Key internal contact with other SIE operational teams as well as acting as a source of knowledge and support for the wider SIE business.

  • Conduct regular meetings with relevant operational contacts at partners to ensure thorough understanding of their content and provision of all vital support for release on PlayStation platforms.

  • Oversee deployment and release of key titles into market, including all enhanced oversight processes and coordination with other relevant SIE teams.

  • Responsible for proposing system improvements and on-going process streamlining to continually improve efficiency and service delivery.

  • Attend, support and present at external SIE events as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Genuine passion for video games.

  • General awareness of the games market, current and future games platforms.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Patient, persistent, discrete, pragmatic/realistic, and diplomatic.

  • Data-centric and analytical with good planning skills and fine attention to detail.

  • Detail oriented with a strong process driven background.

  • Excellent negotiation and advocacy skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a global team with international colleagues.

  • Able to operate and communicate at a senior level within SIE as required.

  • Understanding of the relationship between Publisher & Developer.

  • Games industry background.

  • Understanding of the Development and Publishing process.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location. Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$103,200—$154,800 USD
