Niantic’s Tax Team seeks and Senior Manager, Indirect Tax to assist the existing Tax Team with primarily indirect taxes (VAT, Sales Tax, etc.) and other types of taxes, as well as to become a strong contributor toward building a world-class Tax Department.
We are seeking an energetic, motivated, and driven Senior Tax Manager to join our Tax team in San Francisco. This position will be responsible for supporting Niantic’s global tax operations, including global indirect tax planning, compliance, reporting and other special projects. Due to the fast-paced and high growth nature of the Company, the candidate must be self-driven, detail oriented, have strong organization and communication skills, and a willingness to roll up their sleeves.

Responsibilities
Team with internal Niantic departments such as the Sponsorship, Marketing and Events teams to support Niantic initiatives from an indirect tax perspective, as well as supporting other business initiatives such as merchandise, etc., with respect to indirect taxes.
Calculate and prepare various indirect tax related journal entries for our month end close process.
Lead and review, with external advisors, the preparation of state and foreign indirect tax returns, including assisting with audits and inquiries by tax authorities.
Manage the applicability of other indirect taxes such as digital service taxes to Niantic’s revenue streams.
Manage other indirect taxes such as San Francisco Gross Receipts and property taxes, etc., including the audits of these taxes.
Communicate regularly with internal teams such as the Accounting team and various departments.
Assist the Tax team as with certain income tax related matters.
Prepare/review quarterly tax accounts reconciliations.
Required in-office Monday and Wednesday.
Qualifications
You are either a CPA, or a CPA candidate.
You have strong verbal and written communication skills.
You have a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting/Finance with a strong academic record.
You have a minimum of 5-10 years of experience working with indirect taxes in either the tax department of a company or in public accounting.
You are proficient in accounting, such that you are able to independently prepare journal entries and accurately account for Niantic's various indirect taxes.
You have a familiarity with Microsoft Excel. Familiarity with Netsuite preferred.
You have demonstrated business judgment, and the ability to analyze the costs/benefits of proposed resolutions to tax related problems.
You have experience working with diverse, cross-functional teams.
Ability to work in a fast-paced hybrid environment and handle stress appropriately and/or ability to solve practical problems and be sufficiently adaptable to handle dynamic situations with little advance notice.
Experience working on cross-functional teams with ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal communications, including synchronous interactions with others.
The total compensation package for this position includes a new hire offer base salary range of $175,000 - $205,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.
Individual pay within this salary range is determined by work location and additional factors, including assessed job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
