The game

Project Reconnection is a tabletop-inspired RPG about a group of friends who drifted apart and reconnect over a game table. The party plays a campaign set in a typical high-fantasy setting where an indigenous population is facing a colonialist force and must use friendship and community to overcome. The player follows two stories at once: the characters on the map, and the friends who are playing them.

The core systems reflect that structure.

  • The Opinion system. Relationships between the players shape how the campaign unfolds, including dialogue, encounters, endings, and combat abilities.

  • A layered meta narrative. The GM, the players, the characters, and the person holding the controller each occupy a distinct layer of the story.

We are building in Unreal Engine 5.7.

Our mission

Mystic Die LLC is an indie studio. We exist in part to give early-career and recently graduated developers real production experience alongside people who have worked in the industry professionally.

  • You receive one-on-one feedback from experienced leads, including work reviews and direct critique.

  • You work within real sprint structure, documentation standards, and production processes.

  • You receive a credit and a portfolio piece from a project built for public showing.

  • You participate in reviews and design discussions as a developer, not as an observer.

We also welcome mid-level and senior applicants who want to mentor. Please mention that interest in your email, cover letter, or elsewhere in the application.

Compensation

These are contract roles with profit participation rather than salaried positions.

Contributors earn Participation Units in the project's profit-sharing pool. Units are tracked with sprint points, so a contributor's share reflects work that has been logged and recorded. The full structure is documented in our contract addendum, and we will review it with you before you sign anything.
