Here at Xbox we are looking for a Principal Software Engineer who is passionate about building the next generation of services and applications to reward and excite players for playing the games they want on our platforms and in our communities.
As a Principal Software Engineer on our full stack team, you will be responsible for building and growing the next generation of our rewards program for our players. We are looking for an individual with experience building and deploying services at scale, preferably with a background in operating with Azure. Our team includes various systems that include a range in different technology platforms spanning .Net Framework, C#, Node.js, React and C++. You will be expected to provide leadership, direction, and insight on the future of how we build our systems going forward.
Our Principal Software Engineer should have a passion for learning, building and delivery of consumer features and applications, running A/B experiments, using data to gain insights into customer problems and opportunities, have a track record of iterative product thinking and continued delivery of product impact, and love taking on new challenges.
Responsibilities
Partner with stakeholders to identify requirements as well as author, present and review designs.
Implement, Deploy and Maintain Software in both services and clients.
Participate in on-call rotations to maintain highly available and reliable systems.
Support and influence the team culture customer-centricity and continuous improvement.
Participate in and drive practices and development processes including code-reviews, authoring quality validation for check-ins, and ensuring alarms and telemetry provide clarity on system availability.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C++, C#, or React Native
OR equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience deploying and maintaining live services.
Development experience using Azure services.
Experience with running services in Autopilot.
Experience with A/B experimentation.
Experience building Windows/Android/iOS applications.
Experience with global delivery of features/products.
Written and oral communication skills to concisely frame an engineering problem and communicate alternative approaches.
Experience working with agile methodologies.
Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
