Role
As an Environment Artist with Heart Machine, you will work with other environment artists, designers, concept artists and directors to create compelling levels, environment assets, and striking compositions through appealing lighting.

Responsibilities
Work with the other environment artists, concept artists and directors to provide stylistically cohesive assets and scenes
Create final high-quality models and materials matching our visual targets
Work directly with level designers and peers to bring a blocked-out space to life, with an understanding of gameplay needs
Revise, edit, and respond to feedback from directors to meet story and style goals
Manage time efficiently and work collaboratively
Qualifications
Technical Skills
Expert in Maya (or comparable modeling software)
Unreal Engine experience required - comfortable with material editor, lighting, post-processing, and typical pipeline best practices
Proficient with Zbrush (or comparable sculpting software)
Substance or comparable industry standard packages for material authoring
Strong understanding of current-gen techniques for creating foliage, architecture, vista assets, materials, and skyboxes
Experience with modular building techniques and best-practices
Strong understanding of lighting, form, composition, and value structure
Highly organized, staying up to date on documentation, file structure, and project pipeline needs
What will set you apart
Interest as a generalist, demonstrating skills in environmental VFX, materials, and particularly lighting
Examples of appealing stylized artwork
Great communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Capable of giving and receiving constructive feedback
Capable of working independently, keeping on-task and motivated
At least 1 shipped title
Appreciation for Heart Machine IP and understanding of the studio’s aesthetic pillars

Additional Information
Salary
In the United States, the standard base pay range for this role we have estimated is $80k - $110k Annual. This base pay range is for the U.S. and is not applicable to locations outside of the U.S. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. In addition to base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.

Most staff maintain hours around 9a-6p PST. So long as you get the work done and are there for the meetings you are needed in, we trust you to manage your own time however makes sense to you.
