The Global Merchandising Team owns content programming within the Google Play Store across all regions and verticals (Games, Apps, and Books). As a Games Merchandising Manager for Google Play, you will impact users everyday by owning merchandising efforts end-to-end for the Games vertical within your market(s).

In this role, you will be the expert on mobile games, user needs, and the local ecosystem. You will work with Merchandisers from other verticals on country strategy, Business Development on understanding needs of strategic partners, and Product and Engineering on supporting new platform capabilities. You'll set the strategy for and execute against merchandising and retail promotions for the Games vertical, while continually analyzing performance metrics and optimizing the user experience.

Additionally, you will help build and maintain Google Play's Games merchandising program on handsets, the web, and tablets. You will coordinate and launch effective online features and promotions, work cross-functionally with product, design, marketing, engineering, and other teams to develop an innovative user experience.

Google Play offers music, movies, books, apps and games for devices, powered by the cloud. It syncs across devices and on the web. As part of the Android and Mobile team, Googlers working on Google Play do everything from engineering our backend systems, to shaping product strategy, to forming great content partnerships. They make it possible for people to do things like buy an ebook or song on their Android phone, then have it instantly available on their laptop. The Google Play team enhances the Android ecosystem by giving developers and partners a premium store where they can reach millions of users.

Responsibilities

  • Set markets merchandising strategy for the Games verticals and execute against the global plan for Korea. Build and maintain Google Play’s games merchandising programs, and lead local/regional/global projects and campaigns when required.

  • Research and build sources for information about new mobile games and trending games. Analyze internal data, market research, and industry trends to select content to promote.

  • Work with merchandisers from different markets, business development team, product, design, marketing, and other teams to develop the user experience. Coordinate and launch effective online features and promotions.

  • Coordinate with internal and external partnerships teams to develop and launch effective store content and promotions.

  • Work cross-functionally to define and implement merchandising tools and processes, and site-wide improvements.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5 years of experience in a mobile Games or Apps focused role for merchandising, marketing, or partnerships in an online commerce or digital content business.

  • Ability to speak and write English and Korean fluently.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience working for a company focused on mobile gaming.

  • Ability to work with partners to develop co-promotion or cross-promotion strategies and campaigns.

  • Ability to advise on strategies and product requirements to enhance merchandising capabilities.

  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to analyze research or performance data and apply that analysis to optimize merchandising strategy.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a collaborative working approach.
