Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Gameplay Animator to join our dynamic team and contribute to our innovative Dungeons & Dragons® PC/console project.

This groundbreaking game will merge action-RPG/survival elements with life-simulation features to redefine the genre and captivate players globally.

This position can accommodate a hybrid work model, with the home studio located in Montreal, ǪC, Canada.

Main responsibilities:

  • Create high-quality and visually compelling animations for stylized game characters and creatures, adding on top of the artistic intent from the creative and animation directors,

  • Assist in the creation and management of animation systems within the Unity game engine,

  • Identify and help resolving technical and artistic issues related to animations,

  • Collaborate with other disciplines to make certain that animations satisfy their intended design,

  • Get actively involved with tools and technology and contribute effectively to the animation pipeline,

  • Verify the quality of assets in the game and make improvements where necessary to fit technical constraints and performance targets,

  • Meet project timelines and production schedules,

  • Mentor Intermediate and Junior Animators,

  • Assist in documenting and communicating workflows and best practices to support consistency across the Animation team.

Qualifications

  • Passion for video games.

  • Experience in the games industry.

  • High-quality portfolio of videogame related animations, preferably with an emphasis on stylization and gameplay.

  • Advanced proficiency in 3D animation packages.

  • Expert knowledge of keyframe animation principles and techniques.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with other departments.

  • Strong ability to understand and follow technical and aesthetic requirements set by the project leads.

  • Knowledge of rigging and skinning characters for animation.

  • Understanding of game engine animation systems and tools for creating complex animation behaviors.

  • Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues with animation in the game engine.

  • Good understanding of game mechanics as they pertain to animating characters.

  • Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.

Bonus Points:

  • Portfolio of several shipped titles.

  • Advanced proficiency with the use of Autodesk Maya.

  • Professional experience with the Unity game engine.

  • Cinematography knowledge (cameras, editing, storytelling).

  • Professional experience with Motion Capture animation workflows.
