Team Manager (Game Development)
Location: On-Site, Stockholm, Sweden
Start Date: ASAP
Seniority Level: Lead
Contract Type: Full-time Employment
About the role
We're looking for a Team Manager for our Game studio, to manage people across the studio and help our leads become better. You'll handle performance, feedback, and career development for employees in multiple departments, and work on how teams communicate and collaborate with each other. You'll report to the Head of Games and work closely with department leads, HR, and studio leadership.
You should come from game development, not HR. This is a role for someone who enjoys working with people as much as working with games. You understand changing scope and how art, design, code, and QA depend on each other. On top of that, you're a strong leader and feel comfortable managing and structuring a high performance and collaborative team.
This is an in-house position; candidates must currently be able to work in Stockholm, Sweden.
Example:A Team Lead is great at their craft but avoids giving their team direct feedback because they don't want to be disliked. You'd work with them to solve that.
Responsibilities
Manage people across multiple crafts, feedback, career development, day-to-day support.
Coach teamleads on how to manage their own teams.
Improve how teams and departments communicate and work together.
Spot and resolve friction between teams and improve collaboration.
Work with HR and leadership on performance, ways of working, wellbeing, and culture.
Help establish and maintain clear expectations around leadership, communication, collaboration, and company values.
Act as a trusted and approachable point of contact for employees and managers across the studio.
Sit in on project meetings and stay up to date on team priorities, while streamlining collaboration
What we're looking for
Shipped at least 1-2 bigger games with one or multiple established studios.
Worked in game development from the concept phase to shipping, or a similarly deadline-driven production environment.
You've had multiple teams with direct reports and feel comfortable with running performance reviews, helping leads or junior managers get better at managing.
Ability to make decisions on your own without needing everything signed off.
Good at communication and resolving conflict between people or teams.
Why Join Envar?
If you want to have a real impact on how a studio works, grows, and collaborates, this is an opportunity to make that happen.
You'll work closely with developers, Team Leads, and studio leadership, with the trust and responsibility to help shape both the employee experience and the way we work together.
We’re a games studio where people and games are equally important. If building strong teams, supporting great developers, and making the studio better sounds like your kind of challenge, we’d love to hear from you.
