You are the design leader on an interdisciplinary team responsible for compelling and high-quality player character systems such as in-game controls, mobility, camera, health, status effects, and abilities. You’ll work closely with other gameplay focused teams to build a AAA action game sandbox, provide craft mentorship, and be a key player in building a collaborative and diverse culture within Design.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Interpreting direction from Gameplay Area Lead into actionable goals and designs for the small team you lead to implement.
Owning designs, content, and systems to achieve the goals of the Gameplay Area Lead in creating a compelling, AAA quality sandbox.
Creating alignment through communication, collaboration, and coordination between the small teams responsible for combat systems and the rest of the organization.
Evaluating gameplay features for systemic design best practices, lower risk, and setup for success in live service
Providing executional direction, design expertise, feedback, and support for the work being done by all teams within the gameplay area.
Managing and mentoring designers on your team.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Demonstrable skill in designing of player character features, systems, and content for action shooter games.
Experience successfully leading an interdisciplinary team through several game development cycles.
Knowledge of many types of action games (FPS, 3rd person, melee combat, ARPG, etc.) and online play (cooperative, competitive, shooter, MMO, etc.)
Ability to achieve executional goals set by Gameplay Area Lead
Ability to balance asks for short-term problems alongside long-term goals.
Self-motivated with an ability to inspire and motivate your team.
Experience hiring, training, mentoring, and managing peer and junior designers.
In-depth understanding of game engines, technology, and the game development process.
Thorough oral and written communication skills.

In other locations that Bungie has approved for remote work, this pay range may be adjusted up to +/- 10% and some roles may be classified as non-exempt (hourly). This range is determined by an array of factors, including training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. Washington State Pay Range
$160,000—$189,000 USD
Bungie employees in the U.S. also receive:
20 days of accrued time-off in the form of PTO and sabbatical days, depending on the level of the position
10 paid Floating Days annually, prorated in the first year of employment based on start date
10 paid Bungie-observed holidays annually
One hour of Paid Sick Time (PST) for every 30 hours worked
