Your Role:
As a gameplay features UI engineer on the Overwatch team, you will be part of a talented and passionate team developing a world class gameplay experience, unlocking the potential of our designers and artists to create compelling and exciting UI features. The ideal candidate will understand the challenges involved with making UI experiences across both PC and console and be able to collaborate closely with other disciplines.
This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The home studio for this position is located in Irvine, CA.
Responsibilities:
Partner with designers, artists, producers, and other engineers to create compelling and exciting user interfaces
Contribute to the design of the UI features and systems both aesthetically, and functionally
Develop new functionality in the underlying UI framework to support new gameplay features
Play an active role in supporting the game by helping to address issues in production
Continuously refine skills, workflows, and processes to drive innovation and efficiency
Requirements:
A minimum of 3 years’ professional game programming experience or equivalent
Game user interface design and implementation experience
Solid C++ programming skills and an understanding of common user interface concepts
Ability to collaborate effectively, embrace feedback, and grow within a dynamic team environment
Self-motivated and self-directing, willing to pitch in on other areas of development
The desire to improve the player experience and make our game accessible to everyone who plays
Bonus Points:
Experience developing and maintaining live games
Familiarity with UX considerations for gamepad and keyboard/mouse inputs
Experience working with localization/internationalization systems
Experience with visual scripting languages such as Blueprint
Familiarity with ECS and MVVM architectures
Proficiency in UI authoring languages like XAML, React, or SwiftUI, or scripting languages such as Python
Passion for first person shooters

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $77,500.00 - $143,376.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
