A Senior VFX Artist will craft explosions, spells, ambient world effects, and larger world-destruction animations. You will be the bridge between art and design communicating gameplay ideas to the player all while building a compelling visual storytelling experience. An artist on this team should be fast and efficient, and possess strong, hand-painted texturing skills and fundamentals such as timing, motion, shape language, and 3D composition. We encourage you to continue the core mission of the WoW Art team, which is crafting the highest quality handcrafted art in the industry. You can help us build a fun, engaging world for players.

We are looking for a candidate who is highly collaborative, self-motivated, with the insight to identify problems and the ability to tackle and solve them. Does that sound like you? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

Day to day tasks

  • Create spells, creature abilities, explosions and more in the World of Warcraft VFX style

  • Ability to contribute to all stages of VFX development, from early R&D to final assets

  • Provide feedback on teammate’s work and mentor junior artists

  • Excitement for working closely with other Artists

  • Regularly connect with Production, Design, and other departments

Your background

  • Strong experience developing particle systems and geometry based visual effects

  • Background in animation with an eye for timing is a plus

  • Understand real-time game development needs

  • Highly-motivated, creative problem solver, and a great team-first focus

  • Ability to explore a wide variety of ideas that push the World of Warcraft style

  • Portfolio that demonstrates high-quality work plus some professional game-development experience (3 years or more)

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $80,800.00 - $149,400.00 Annual. This base pay range is for the U.S. and is not applicable to locations outside of the U.S. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
