As an Associate Production Director over Technology, you will have a strong understanding of game development guidelines and production methodologies, collaborating with our teams to ensure achievable goals are outlined and realized throughout the phases of development. When particularly hard problems arise, you will draw upon your diverse experience and the collective creativity of the groups you support to remove blockers and produce a Blizzard-worthy game.

This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The potential home studio for this role is Irvine, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Lead production for all Technology streams for a proprietary engine with strong product mind and focus, creating a strong team culture that effectively works towards product vision, strategy and goals.

  • In partnership with Engineering Leadership, establish and maintain a roadmap of short to long term (multi-year) goals and deliverables for the Technology Initiative with a clear prioritization framework to support delivery.

  • Develop and implement effective review cycles of each product milestone and/or deliverable to identify areas for improvement and/or project risk, proposing solutions to necessary stakeholders.

  • Create organizational structure, processes and project plans that allow the team to efficiently produce high quality work on time and on budget.

  • Support game production by coordinating operations for the team, ensuring established processes are followed, and driving team and stakeholder alignment on strategy and execution against said strategy.

  • Work directly with team Leads and Producers to create and refine project schedules and resource plans over the lifecycle of a project.

  • Engage in knowledge sharing in the Production department, raising the bar for what great production means for the studio.

  • Coach performance within the team in a way that encourages autonomy, mastery, and purpose.

  • Manage and mentor a team of producers (including annual reviews) providing guidance/support to ensure project goals, objectives, milestones, and deliverables are achieved.

  • Lead by example, creating a strong sense of purpose and community, promoting a culture of excellence and inclusivity, encouraging a sustainable work/life balance.

  • Exemplify reliability, accountability, and professionalism in all work-related interactions

  • Act as a live operations service owner, proactively driving issue prevention, diagnosis, mitigation, and root cause analysis.

  • Work with database engineers, reliability engineers, and server engineers to solve problems and deploy builds and fixes.

  • Establish best in class processes for managing and monitoring releases at a rapid cadence.

  • Ensure that our game provides a highly reliable experience for our players.

  • Coordinate with embedded and external teams within Blizzard to ensure our game is using supported technologies.

  • Serve as an active partner within the larger project team leadership group, identifying risks and working collaboratively to improve the sustainability of our engineering efforts.

  • Build relationships and lead implementation of shared initiatives across our unannounced survival game and within Blizzard.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of working in Production, Project Management, and/or Agile at scale, with outstanding communication and facilitation skills.

  • 5+ years of senior-level production experience in game development.

  • Must have shipped at least one AAA game in a production leadership role overseeing a significant portion of the development team.

  • Experience developing and solidifying a vision, strategy and roadmap for an ambiguous product space, across various stages of development (from incubation to post-production).

  • Strong organization, communication, and strategic skills.

  • A self-motivated individual who takes the initiative and makes sense out of the ambiguous

  • Experience orchestrating work across art, design, engineering, and sound.

  • Able to work with team leads and directors to align priorities and create predictability in scheduling.

  • Experience tracking a complex project and providing insight and influence into how to deliver more effectively and mitigate risks.

  • Calm and deliberate within a highly dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • Experience in people management; mentorship experience of other designers where it has led to promotions.

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $124,400.00 - $230,300.00 Annual. This base pay range is for the U.S. and is not applicable to locations outside of the U.S. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
