Responsibilities

Your Daily Life at Bethesda Game Studios

As Lead Gameplay Programmer, you will…

  • Evaluate product proposals, identifying, and mitigating risks, and leading the technical implementation of new features in the game.

  • Work with project leads to ensure that all feature groups are held accountable for performant and stable releases to the production environment.

  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and perspective to their staff to help ensure that their teams will be a technical success through informed estimates and a managed scope.

  • Partner with production to help set targets for schedule as well as assist on task assignment when needed.

  • Manage a team of approximately 5-10 gameplay programmers and participate in their annual reviews.

Qualifications

What Makes You S.P.E.C.I.A.L.

  • You have a B.Sc. in Computer Science and/or Mathematics.

  • You are proficient with C++ and 3D math skills.

  • You have prior development experience in the games industry.

  • You have development experience on game consoles (Xbox360/PS3/Xbox One/PS4).

  • You have the ability to contribute innovative and original ideas towards all aspects of game production and development.

  • Demonstrated expertise in delivering gameplay systems + features.

  • Awareness of multiplayer game systems & complexities of networked gameplay.

  • You possess strong organizational skills, communication skills, and the ability to communicate and work with non-engineers.

  • You work well under pressure and can handle multiple tasks.

  • You have a passion for making GREAT games.

  • You have experience playing Bethesda Game Studios games

Salary Range

Lead Gameplay Programmer - The typical base pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $125,000 - $240,000 per year.

ZeniMax has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. The range above reflects the potential base pay across the U.S. for this role; the applicable base pay range will depend on what ultimately is determined to be the candidate’s primary work location. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.

At ZeniMax certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, such as merit increases and discretionary bonuses. These awards are allocated based on individual performance and are not guaranteed.
