Overview

The Emergency Management Planner is responsible for providing support to ZeniMax’s emergency management planning efforts and is a member of the Rockville Emergency Management Group (EMG). In this position you will be responsible for improving the global emergency management posture, including disaster mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery activities. Researches, develops, and coordinates specific company-wide emergency plans designed to protect the employees and reduce damage to property and the environment. Assists all Emergency Management Executive Committee (EMEC) as needed with organization of and adherence to project milestones and deliverables for planning, training, and exercising activities.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies, researches, and assesses natural, technological, and security hazards that pose a threat to the ZeniMax family of companies.
  • Develops, revises, and distributes emergency plans and procedures as directed to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from identified hazards.
  • Develops exercise objectives, scenarios, and evaluation standards for multi-disciplinary participants in accordance with Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program guidance (HSEEP).
  • Writes After Action Reports (AAR) documenting local exercise activities while ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements.
  • Contributes to capability-building efforts that span training, exercising, equipping, organizing, and evaluating preparedness capabilities for all missions and phases of emergency management.
  • Schedule, manage, and participate in EMEC and/or business unit specific EMG tabletop exercises to review emergency protocols and procedures.
  • Travel to other ZeniMax facilities to develop local emergency management procedures.
  • Train in, schedule and plan general First Aid, AED, CPR classes.
  • Schedule company-wide safety presentations. Provide training to new and existing employees.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with individuals, groups and representatives of government, business and industry, and volunteer organizations.
  • Reviews applicable statutes and laws to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal planning requirements.
  • Coordinates the planning process with all appropriate local, state, federal, and private agencies to develop and exercise emergency plans.
  • Identifies resource and procedural deficiencies and works with appropriate officials on measures to correct them.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in emergency management, homeland security, information technology, or related field.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in emergency management, crisis planning, disaster planning, or related public safety field.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and Federal laws and statutes pertaining to Emergency Management.
  • Must possess an Associate Emergency Manager (AEM) or Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) certification or complete requirements for certification within eighteen months of hire.
  • Knowledge of Emergency Management principles, guidance, practices, and resources, including but not limited to tenets of the National Incident Management System (NIMS), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Comprehensive Preparedness Guide (CPG) 101, and the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP).
  • Skill in effectively communicating verbally and in writing and exercising tact and discretion.
  • Skill in making presentations in group settings.
  • Skill in using a personal computer and applications skills including website design, social media, Windows, and programs within the MS Office Suite.
  • Preferred experience with Microsoft Project or other applicable methodological approach for managing projects involving date-driven milestones and deliverables.
  • Skill in preparing effective correspondence and clear, concise reports.
  • Ability to prepare for and respond to disasters.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with emergency services organizations, civic leaders, and professional groups.
  • Ability to exercise considerable initiative and good judgment.

Preferred Skills
