Wonderstorm is a double threat media studio that creates timeless animated TV series and engaging video games that anchor our entertainment franchises.

Our first franchise, the Emmy Award-winning The Dragon Prince, began as an original animated series on Netflix in 2018. All three seasons have been a Top 10 digital original and are rated 100% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. The series was recently picked up for four additional seasons. A world-class video game for The Dragon Prince is under development by the same creative team.

And that's where you come in.... We're looking for a hyper-talented Senior 3D Character Artist to help bring our characters to interactive life (and create many new ones!) for our upcoming video game.

What you will do...

  • Sculpt high-resolution character models in Zbrush, Blender or preferred 3D program
  • Model characters and creatures utilizing strong technical modeling skills (understanding of clean mesh, topology, animation, UVs, scene organization, etc.)
  • Review and provide feedback to other character artists and outsourcers at each phase (high poly, low poly, UV, bake, texture)
  • Push styles, proportions, and silhouettes of characters to work well with the game’s design and camera
  • Partner closely with the Art Director to ensure a unified look and consistent quality across game characters
  • Collaborate with concept artists to revise and improve new character designs
  • Collaborate with animators to create characters that can move and perform believably
  • Work within multidisciplinary teams to help bring new and existing The Dragon Prince characters to life
  • Actively contribute to the growth of a startup studio. Lead by example, including demonstrating a willingness to give and receive feedback, collaborate with others to share techniques, and contribute to a positive working environment

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in a Character Artist role within the games industry
  • Ability to model, UV map, and create textures from concept art
  • Ability to model characters in a range of styles (bonus: experience with stylized/animated characters)
  • Strong proficiency in Maya or Blender, Zbrush, and Photoshop
  • Understanding of game technology and pipelines required for creating characters and skins
  • Ability to work with a high degree of self-direction and motivation
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task while managing multiple workflows
  • Bonus XP: Unreal Engine 4 experience
