The TCG Studio is seeking a contractor to write card art concepts for Magic ! This position will translate the mechanics of the game into innovative and dynamic imagery using their prolific ability in crafting a large volume of well-written art briefs.

What You'll Do

Besides being a creative problem solver, the Visual Writer will:

  • Write 75+ art briefs a week
  • Provide appropriate feedback to art directors about illustrations, including continuity concerns for character and lore
  • Coordinate with Worldbuilding leads to ensure goals for card set are represented

What You'll Bring

  • 4-year college degree or equivalent experience
  • Professional writing experience, particularly in a visually-related field such as writing for comics or film
  • Background in game design or art is a plus
  • Deep love and knowledge of games, intellectual vigor, outstanding creativity, and ability to advocate opinions while building consensus
  • High-level writing skills
  • Successful completion of the Card Concepting Test
  • Knowledge of Magic: the Gathering rules and IP elements
  • Ability to work well on teams and interact with other departments
