ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Wavemaker Content: Sports & Live practice team, leads all sports sponsorship, esports, and experiential initiatives across Wavemaker clients. The Manager will play a critical role in leading the strategic development and activation of high-profile sports sponsorship investments across sports leagues, teams, and properties. This role requires an ambitious and experienced sports marketer with a mix of creativity, smart thinking, and strong project management skills to take ownership of sports sponsorship programs and integrated sports partnerships. The ideal candidate will be expected to work across multiple agency clients and lead the day-to-day management and execution of sports sponsorships and esports/gaming initiatives across all facets of the deals

YOUR IMPACT:

  • Lead the creation of short-term and long-term sponsorship activation plans and creative sports brand platforms that deliver on overarching sponsorship strategies
  • Manage the fulfilment/execution of contractual sponsorship assets/benefits
  • Work directly with sports properties to explore potential sponsorships, help shape/negotiate custom proposals, and uncover opportunities/value for clients
  • Take ownership of sports sponsorship account servicing responsibilities with clients, internal WM teams, and sports properties/partners, including but not limited to; agendas, status documents, brainstorms, briefs, recaps, reporting, and presentations
  • Lead the execution and management of client sponsorship investments inclusive of media commitments, IP/rights, signage, custom content, on-site activations, promotions, talent, and hospitality/tickets
  • Manage integrated and customized gaming and esports campaigns and provide thought-leadership around gaming/esports trends, the landscape, and opportunities
  • Work collaboratively with internal Wavemaker teams including planning, strategy, investment, data sciences on integrated sports sponsorships
  • Work closely with sports media partners on the development and strategy around sports media investments/commitments as part of broader sponsorship agreements
  • Participate in team brainstorms to bring forth creative sponsorship activations ideas to support client campaigns, and be able to manage these ideas from inception to execution
  • Manage the event planning process for any/all on-site activations and hospitality events at sporting events
  • Monitor and identify relevant sports sponsorship consumer trends and marketplace updates

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 years of client service and account management experience in a sponsorship & partnership role (preferably on the agency side)
  • Experience in a client servicing and account management role working on sports sponsorships
  • Prior experience working with sports and entertainment properties, including sports media platforms, sports leagues/teams, athletes, etc.
  • Well-versed in sports sponsorships and esports/gaming with a deep understanding of the landscape and key trends
  • Prior experience developing and executing experiential events and custom brand activations
  • Passion to work on multiple sports sponsorship assignments across different sports and properties
  • Ability to remain up to date with emerging trends, new technology, and innovative/strategic sponsorship opportunities in the marketplace
  • Strong creative curiosity and effective problem-solving skills to manage complex sports & experiential programs
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
