To this end, we are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel who can join our leadership team and help pave the way towards our new goals.

What you will do

Reporting to our CEO, the candidate will oversee all legal matters, be responsible for improving the legal solutions which Virtuos utilizes to operate across multiple countries and manage risks of its operations.

  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements for a variety of third party contractual relationships with clients, vendors and other partners.
  • Advise Virtuos management about areas of legal compliance and implement suitable programmes to ensure adequate compliance. Collaborate with Functional Heads and Studio Managers to develop and execute such programmes.
  • Monitor developments in the legal and regulatory landscape in the video game industry and financial markets which could impact Virtuos.
  • Establish standard terms, template agreements and legal processes aimed at achieving best outcomes for Virtuos and its partners.
  • Manage and work closely with outside lawyers on all legal issues.

Who we are looking for

We are seeking an experienced professional who:

  • Has passion for or experience in the video games, entertainment and software industries ;
  • Is comfortable working on various contracts in the software, creative or entertainment fields : drafting, negotiating about IP matters, service terms or financial investment terms under different legislations ;
  • Has excellent interpersonal skills with a highly motivated mindset, flexible and able to support multicultural legal implications if needed.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a recognised law school either in Singapore or abroad and admitted as a member of the legal profession in Singapore or in an English speaking jurisdiction.
  • Minimum 5 years related experience, with a focus on intellectual property law, and contract law. Game industry experience is a big plus.
  • Good knowledge of the legal system in Singapore, the US and China.
  • You have excellent legal and business judgment and are experienced in building consensus across diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience working on multiple different projects simultaneously in a multilingual environment. Native English is a must, Chinese is a plus.
