Video Games Deluxe is a small dynamic team based in Sydney, Australia. We have recently completed the multi-platform release L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files for PC and PS4 and we are currently developing an exciting new project. Video Games Deluxe has worked exclusively for Rockstar Games since 2013.

Job Description

Video Games Deluxe is seeking a Senior Programmer to help us develop our next AAA Virtual Reality Open World game. You will be working with a small but experienced team, ideally taking responsibility for one or more specific game technology areas, but also be capable of stepping outside your comfort zone to work in other areas as necessary.

In addition to producing stable and reliable code, as a Senior Programmer you will help to guide and support less experienced team members, as well as provide input on the technical direction of the game and asset pipeline. You will use your strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with Art and Design to create streamlined but flexible game sub-systems.

You must be motivated, with a passion for video games, and have demonstrated technical ability while working in the video games industry or a relevant related field. All candidates are required to have extensive knowledge and experience of software development and be comfortable working in large codebases with complicated build processes.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years in low-level software development, including ...
  • 2+ years in the video games industry or a relevant related field
  • Ability to clearly communicate ideas and document your work
  • High proficiency in C++ and STL
  • Solid 3D Math skills
  • Deep understanding of two or more of the following game technology areas:

Artificial Intelligence, Animation, Asset Pipelines, Audio, Gameplay,

  • Graphics, Navigation, Physics/Collision, UI/UX, Virtual Reality.
  • Demonstrated ability to ship products (not necessarily a game)

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • One or more shipped game title(s)
  • Unreal Engine experience
  • Scripting Languages (e.g. Lua, Python)
  • Experience with Virtual Reality systems
  • Ability to defend your position re: Tabs vs Spaces

Salary commensurate with skill and experience
