Gaming Operations: The ESPORTS Lounge Manager will be responsible for supervising gaming operations and patrons’ use of the ESPORTS Lounge. This will include ensuring the gaming stations are operational and ready for use, explaining and interpreting operating rules of the Lounge to patrons, maintaining familiarity with the games of the Lounge, etc.

Software Management: The ESPORTS Lounge Manager will be responsible for administrative operations of ggLeap, the login/software management system utilized in the ESPORTS Lounge. This will include adherence to any applicable licensing rights to games offered in the Lounge, point of sales management, updating content on the slider, etc. This position will also provide recommendations to the Assistant Director of Student Union and Campus Programming on which games should be added or removed from the gaming systems.

Marketing: The ESPORTS Lounge Manager will be responsible for developing print and digital publications to attract and retain patrons of the space. This includes the UAA ESPORTS Lounge website, the UAA ESPORTS Lounge Google Business account, various social media accounts, brochures for campus engagement fairs and orientation, etc.

Partnerships and Reservations: The ESPORTS Lounge Manager will cultivate and grow relationships with UAA students, student clubs, and campus department, as well as Anchorage-area middle schools and high schools. The position will also work with community members to reserve the Lounge for personal and community-wide events.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • General knowledge of Esports, particularly League of Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League, and Super Smash Bros.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Possess good organizational skills
  • Possess exceptional attention to detail
  • Possess exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Ability to be productive with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work 15-20 hours/week

Typical Education or Training

Previous experience working with students and community members. Candidate should be able to learn different software programs. Candidate should have a general understanding of Esports culture.

Position Requirements

To be eligible for student employment, an applicant must have the following requisites:

  1. They must be enrolled in the University of Alaska system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment;
  2. Have at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA);
  3. Student enrolled in non-traditional programs of study will be considered eligible for student employment with the approval of the Senior Student Services officer. An applicant must provide evidence of enrollment as outlined above the substantiate employment eligibility;
  4. Student must have experience planning outdoor and other recreational events.

This position's starting wage is $11.00 per hour and is eligible to work up to 20 hours per week.
