Role description

Do you enjoy empowering creative talent with groundbreaking graphics tools, workflows, and features? Would you like to craft and implement interactive workflows that can improve the ever-growing power of graphics hardware on current and future platforms to build outstanding content quickly and intuitively?

The Graphics Team’s goal is to deliver high quality, artist-friendly tools to our core engine. As our Tools programmer, you will work on one of the key tools in development - Visual Effect Graph that allows users to create complex visual effects using a node-based interface. It is being built for FX, technical artists and targets both film and game industries. From the graph, we are generating shaders to create highly optimized and fully customizable effects. You will help us ease the production pipeline of effects and fuel creativity for artists by giving them a friendly to use yet powerful and flexible set of tools to work with.

You will report to the VFX lead and be part of the VFX team in Graphics. Together we will contribute to push the boundaries of real time Visual effects fidelity and workflows.

Examples of productions that use visual effect graph are the Heretic short film and the spaceship demo.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, document and maintain new features for our VFX tools
  • Work with artists, UX designers and graphics engineers to ensure smooth, intuitive and powerful workflows
  • Build, document and maintain full data pipelines from external software to Unity runtime
  • Work and own various parts of our VFX Tool suite: UI, Graph models, importers, FX compiler

Requirements

  • Expertise with writing C# and/or C++ optimized and clean code
  • Experience with tool development, ideally node-based tools
  • Ability to understand and work with an existing large codebase
  • Familiar with shader languages and GPU pipelines

Bonus Points

  • Experience and interest in the Visual Effect field
  • Experience with Unity
