Unity’s Montreal studio continues to grow, with the goal to extend Unity’s success within the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry. Part of this work will be implementing crucial Unity features to meet specific industry needs, for our Unity Reflect line of products. You will be working in a multi-functional team of hardworking individuals and will be presenting with technical team members.

The opportunity

Our team is looking for a skilled Technical Artist with extensive experience building systems to support all art-centric pipelines for one of our AEC projects oriented toward our Unity Reflect product. A deep curiosity in technology and a technical portfolio/reel displaying hard surface modeling and lighting studies is suggested upon application.

What you’ll be doing

  • Collaborate on the creation of material replacement pipelines that refer to specifications from other BIM Software (Revit, Navisworks, Rhino, etc)
  • Create solutions to use real-time lighting for accurate visualizations of physical materials
  • Optimize HDRP rendering effects for multiple Platforms (Desktop, AR/VR,, etc.)
  • Work with artists to integrate and optimize 3D Assets within Unity/HDRP projects
  • Work with the team to create physically accurate renderings of real-time environments, and materials/shaders/effects for more complex simulations (grass, water, etc.)

What we’re looking for

  • Experience working with real-time lighting, rendering and surfacing
  • Experience with industry standard game engines (Unity or others)
  • Proven ability to improve artistic quality while working within technical constraints
  • Strong knowledge of lighting and color Theory

You might also have

  • Experience with architectural visualization and familiar with BIM Software (Revit, Navisworks, Rhino, etc)
  • Experience with procedural/generative content systems (worldbuilding)
  • Experience working with HDRP within the Unity Engine
