Uken is looking for a Principal Technical Artist to join the team. This role will be responsible for directing a team of Tech Artists in creating performant and awesome visual effects for our games. Uken is a mobile game development studio that embraces product innovation as a strategy for success. In order to leverage our creative spirit we maintain a lean development strategy and sharp focus on delivering highly engaging experiences.

You'll be working on meaningful things like:

  • Driving research, innovation, and improving technical quality of all games across the studio
  • Setting and sharing best practices within the tech art group
  • Creating awesome 2D and UI animations
  • Optimizing VFX effects to fit design and technical constraints
  • Developing systems and tool-sets for artists and developers
  • Managing other Technical Artists

Your background should include:

  • 8+ years experience in game development
  • Proficiency with animations, particle systems and material setup
  • Experience working with shaders / creating shaders
  • Significant experience with Unity
  • Experience with Photoshop and ability to create assets for the visual effects
  • Moderate experience with C#
  • Highly organized and detail oriented

It's a big plus if you have:

  • A portfolio of self­-made games
  • Good knowledge of additional art toolsets (3D studio, Maya, etc..)
  • Degree Graphic Art or related field
