Our Studio

Ubisoft Toronto is one of the largest development studios within Ubisoft, employing talented developers from around the world. We create worlds and tell stories that grip you, inspire you and challenge you. Since opening in 2010, we have shipped innovative game projects on some of Ubisoft’s biggest brands: Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, Watch Dogs, For Honor and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell.

Most recently, we launched Far Cry 6, the most ambitious Far Cry game to date, featuring the talented Giancarlo Esposito as Anton Castillo. Our studio has also led the development of the newest game in the Watch Dogs franchise – Watch Dogs: Legion (2020), a stand out for its tech and design work, play as anyone gameplay in an open world, and rich and detailed rendition of a future London. Starlink: Battle for Atlas (2018) was Ubisoft Toronto’s first new IP, using technology that seamlessly blended physical and digital gameplay. We have an exciting roadmap of projects for the future and can’t wait to share more details.

On being a UI Artist at Ubisoft Toronto

The UI Artist will work closely with the Presentation Director to define the look and feel of menus and interfaces as well as for graphic elements shown in-game and in cinematics when needed.

Type of Position: Permanent, full-time; Toronto, Ontario; Hybrid, flexible work environment

The daily life of a UI Artist at Ubisoft Toronto

  • Conceptualize and design HUD + GUI elements, boot-up sequences, loading screens and menus;
  • Research & develop cutting edge styles that push boundaries in graphic design and motion graphics;
  • Create logos and iconography;
  • Be able to clearly communicate ideas in a visual manner, either as sketches, style frames or mock-ups;
  • Design motion graphics for in-game assets and/or pre-rendered movies;
  • Work closely with the UX and Game Design teams to know what type of player experience is expected;
  • Work closely with the programming team in order to implement assets into the game and verify the quality of said graphics once implemented;
  • Discover visual solutions to make the game graphics user-friendly;
  • Carry out all other related tasks.

What it takes to make it

  • College diploma in graphic design and multimedia or equivalent training or work experience;
  • 3+ years’ experience in creating interfaces on a video game or feature film;
  • Experience working in game interfaces on at least 1 AAA game preferred;
  • Be proficient with Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Flash.

Nice to have

  • Proficiency with Cinema 4d, Maya or Max is an asset;
  • Creativity (originality and resourcefulness when searching for solutions);
  • Observation skills;
  • Ability to work as part of a team;
  • Ability to accept critiques and adapt to change;
  • Sense of initiative.
