Job Description

What you’ll do as a Team Lead Programmer:

  • Guide a group of talented and inspired graphics programmers who develop technology critical to the creation of games;

  • Help your team achieve its ambitions through technical know-how, leadership and ability to make informed decisions;

  • Share passion for the systems your team develops together;

  • Maintain and communicate the vision formed with the Tech Lead and Project Lead.

  • Work with the Tech Lead to develop deep comprehension of what everyone does on your team allow you to harmonize contributions;

  • When quality systems are delivered and when they work together cohesively, you know you have contributed to offering a rich experience to our players;

  • Meet with your team to discuss progress with assigned tasks, note issues and brainstorm ways to address them;

  • Review outstanding bugs and how best to approach them;

  • Communicate regularly with the Tech Lead and leads from other disciplines to plan ahead, identify risks and deliver on time;

  • Regularly update your Project Lead on your team’s assignments and meet with other leads both within and outside the project to discuss how to improve workflows and share technology.

Qualifications

We know that skills and competencies show up in different forms and can be based on different experiences. If you are excited about the role, we strongly encourage you to apply even though you may not have all the qualifications listed below.

  • Proficient in C++ and other programming languages commonly used in game production;

  • Knowledge of the modern GPU rendering pipeline and how to utilize it efficiently;

  • Knowledge of real-time Physically Based Rendering (lighting, BRDF’s, camera model, etc.);

  • Participation in at least one full game production or equivalent in a programming role or technical management;

  • Act as a role model - demonstrate care for people, express inclusive behaviours and foster a safe and respectful work environment;

  • Strategic leadership and communication skills;

  • Experience and understanding to face challenging situations with problem solving and solutions;

  • Previous experience managing a team of game programmers is an asset;

  • Experience in using Mathematics to solve and optimize rendering algorithms is an asset;

  • Understanding and experience of Monte-Carlo path tracing techniques is an asset;

  • Effective organizational skills (time management, planning, communication);

  • Exhibit resourcefulness, innovation, and initiative in their role;

  • Database knowledge is an asset (JIRA, Perforce, etc.);

  • Knowledge of the technical constraints of real time, 3D engines and level editors

  • Knowledge of the other game production working units an asset

  • 5+ years’ experience in game programming or related experience;

  • An undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent training / relevant experience;

  • Bilingualism in French would be a benefit.
