Job Description

The Senior Technical Artist will be responsible for developing, supporting, and documenting the pipeline and techniques used by art and technical art teams to ship engaging, high quality VR games within the platform constraints.

What you will do:

  • Develop new and improve existing tools

  • Problem solving for key production issues

  • Recognizing inefficiencies and pipeline issues and identifies solutions

  • Profiling & performance optimization

  • Daily support for Art and Tech teams

  • Enabling other team members to achieve tasks in an efficient & consistent manner

  • Developing tools & scripts for 3D/2D packages and in-house tools

  • Creation & maintenance of documentation for Technical Art features and tools

  • Profiling, analysing and optimizing world content and spaces

  • Provide the junior members of the team with mentorship

  • Collaborate with Tech-Art Department, Art-Department, Programmers, Level Designers, Technical Level Designers

Qualifications

What you bring:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in video-game production as a Technical Artist

  • A great ability to think creatively to overcome technical challenges

  • Experience and understanding of art pipelines for game creation

  • Advanced skills working with a commercial or in-house 3D engine, preferably Unity

  • Advanced programming skills in preferably C#, or Python

  • Experience and understanding of 3DSMax or Maya

  • Familiarity with the creation of user-friendly tools and/or systems

  • Clear understanding of art optimization techniques for mobile platforms

  • Proactive communication skills, while being able to work effectively cross-discipline

  • Strong organizational skills and a high level of autonomy

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Houdini in game pipelines

  • Experience developing shaders in code or with graphs

  • Experience shipping a game for mobile or VR platforms

  • Knowledge on rigging and/or technical animation

  • Experience with Substance Designer in game pipelines

  • Experience being involved in recruitment or mentoring junior members of a team
