Ubisoft Toronto is one of the most significant development studios within Ubisoft, employing talented developers worldwide. We create worlds and tell stories that grip you, inspire you and challenge you. Since opening in 2010, we have shipped innovative game projects on Ubisoft’s most prominent brands: Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, Watch Dogs, For Honor and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell.
We recently launched Far Cry 6, the most ambitious Far Cry game to date, featuring the talented Giancarlo Esposito as Anton Castillo. Our studio has also led the development of the newest game in the Watch Dogs franchise – Watch Dogs: Legion (2020), a stand out for its tech and design work, play as anyone gameplay in an open world, and rich and detailed rendition of a future London. Starlink: Battle for Atlas (2018) was Ubisoft Toronto’s first new IP, which seamlessly blended physical and digital gameplay. Splinter Cell Blacklist was the first title released by Ubisoft Toronto in 2013. We have an exciting roadmap of projects for the future and can’t wait to share more details.

Job Description
On being a Gameplay Programmer at Ubisoft Toronto: As a Gameplay Programmer at Ubisoft Toronto, you will be working together with the team at Massive Entertainment to create a new story-driven open-world video game set in the Star Wars galaxy. Our goal is to create a game and a story that bring both new and lifelong fans on an immersive and outstanding journey, which will stay with them for years to come.
Type of Position: Permanent, full-time; Toronto, Ontario; Hybrid, flexible work environment
When you’re a Gameplay Programmer at Ubisoft Toronto, you have direct influence over the quality of the game that will end up in the players’ hands; there is a tangible link between your work and the player experience. You are entrusted with coding the interactive systems that make the game.
With every new iteration, you commit yourself to answering the most fundamental questions: Will the player enjoy this? Does it feel right? Is it AAA quality? You’re an avid gamer who cares about the player experience. As a dependable member of a cohesive gameplay team composed of AI, UI and 3Cs specialists, you will bring to life the vision of the game and mission designers, who will take your point of view and expertise into consideration when making their decisions.
What you’ll do:
Cooperate with game designer to program the game according to game design document;
Identify potential technique risks based on game design requirement in early stage;
Work with artist to implement the user interface, graphic and animations;
Work closely with backend programmer to ensure the quality of data communication between both end;
Ensuring the code and feature with high quality and stability;
Help other programmer in the team when necessary to ensure smooth user experience through all parts of the game;
Cooperate with the producer to establish feasible working plans according to the mandate;
Help the producer to implement the plan by checking the work progress of the code team regularly;
Work with the team to improve production process and establish best practice;
Document the code and design to share with others;
Carry out all other related tasks.
Qualifications
What you bring:
Experiences of games development in both online and offline projects, with equivalent industry experience;
Experience in the design and implementation of various game systems, including game object management, animation, gameplay scripting, user interface and online networking;
Strong C & C++ skill; Strong analytical and synthesis skills;
Good knowledge of standard algorithms and knows how to use them according to project needs;
Strong ability in problem-solving and adapt to change;
Good communication (oral and written) in English and collaboration skills.
