Job Description

Beyond Good And Evil 2 is an action-adventure sci-fi RPG set in the same universe as Ubisoft's original cult classic. You can now join our crew at Ubisoft Mainz to help us shape this amazing project.

As Lead Development Tester at Ubisoft Mainz, you and your team continuously contribute to the delivery outstanding content quality. You'll guide a talented team of development testers while overseeing the overall development of our mandate.

You are the key point of contact for advice within your team and well connected to all of production - from designers, to artists and programmers. Improving processes and taking charge of test plans is just as important to you as helping your team members grow. You also ensure that every one of their thoroughly tested features is accounted for, so that bugs and glitches don't slip through the cracks and into the hands of our players.

What you will do:

  • Collaborate with the production team to understand the overall game vision & design documentation
  • Partner with producers and project managers to help plan tasks and milestones
  • Oversee and drive test development, estimations, planning, execution, reporting and closure
  • Take accountability for the quality of all work and relationships on your team
  • Regularly meet with your team to follow up on test plans, provide feedback and coaching, discuss progress, tackle setbacks, coordinate bug correction, flag risks, set benchmarks, etc.
  • Plan and maintain defect management processes and tools
  • Keep QA and QC processes and documentation up to date
  • Coordinate work between the development team, the other studios and external QC teams
  • Participate in recruitment to build your development testing team & foster your team's long-term growth, including succession planning

Qualifications

What you bring:

  • Experience in game/software testing: 5+ years
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience in quality control or quality assurance, or related experience (project management an asset); with at least one title shipped in a lead role
  • Knowledge of bug tracking software (e.g. Jira), test creation software (e.g. TestRail), and game engines (e.g. Unity or Unreal) & their limitations
  • Demonstrated experience in test planning for complex features/systems
  • Ability to write QA reports in a professional manner
  • A highly innovative, empathetic, and collaborative spirit
  • Exceptional problem-solving, organizational, communication, mentorship, and interpersonal skills
  • Critical thinking, attention to detail, curiosity, resourcefulness, and plenty of flexibility
  • Proficiency to work in spoken and written English
  • A solid understanding of the market & a genuine passion for video games

Nice to have:

  • Any coding knowledge: XML/HTML, JavaScript, Python, Java, C/C++/C#, SQL
  • Experience with automation test methods
  • Familiarity with Ubisoft's line of products and services
  • Certification in any of the following: PMP, Scrum Master, ISTQB-ATM
  • Experience working in global teams
