Job Description

The Settlers Online is a well established IP with a large fan base. The architect of your own city, you are also it's protector - defeating bandit camps and completing missions to unlock more features. The more experience points you gain the bigger and better you can build your empire.

As Gameplay Programmer, you will be one of our masters of interactions. You will maximize the playability, fun and comfort for the players. Your impact will be driving, challenging and turning creative ideas into high quality gameplay features in order to deliver believable, memorable and original gaming experiences.

  • Improve playability with bug-free gameplay features
  • Understand and challenge the design intentions of the game to turn them into gameplay features that will maximize the playability, believability and comfort for the players
  • Create solutions to facilitate the integration and adaptation of gameplay elements - such as design, sound and animation - into the game.

Optimize player’s comfort (playability)

  • Implement and optimize the interaction controls, systems, features and UI together with the game designer to ensure fluid playability
  • Determine and fix the gameplay bugs detected by the production, CRM and quality control teams

Code complex gameplay mechanisms

  • Establish the technical possibilities for the different gameplay features
  • Analyse and understand the game design documents in order to define the required features and game systems that must be developed in the engine
  • Implement the features and systems according to the design documents and conforming the technical framework
  • Validate and verify if the newly developed systems meet project intentions and are coherent with the existing code

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in Gameplay Programming (C#)
  • Experience in programming robust and efficient code, including large existing code bases
  • Strong experience with Unity
  • Experience to work on a game operating in a live environment
  • Proactive behavior and a team player
  • Excellent communication and good English skills (no German language skills are required to work in our Studio)

Bonus

  • Good knowledge in C++ is a plus

With a Japanese gardens, "Little Tokyo" area for Asian cuisine and celebrating Japan Day along the River Rhine each year Düsseldorf is a lively and multicultural city.
