About the Role

The Users Platform team operates the service that contains all of Twitch users core data. The service interacts with our GraphQL API, the edge of twitch.tv, and hundreds of other callers at Twitch.

Maybe they call you " Site Reliability", "DevOps" or "SysAdmin" or "DevTools" engineer. Whatever the title, if you understand what it takes to deliver an excellent CICD pipeline, write code that maintains infrastructure platforms in the cloud, optimize tests and roll out procedures so that other engineers can deploy with their eyes closed, we want to talk to you.

As a senior engineer on the team, you will operate, modernize and add features to our Users service platform. You will assess our platform and focus on optimizing services and infrastructure to provide value to your team and the company. You will work with Go, Python, CDK, and use AWS tooling and infrastructure to build and deploy. You will report to the senior manager of engineering for Users and provide technical leadership to the team.

You Will:

  • Operate a critical Twitch infrastructure and toolings similar to GitHub Enterprise, Jenkins.

  • Maintain and evolve part of Twitch's infrastructure and CI/CD platform.

  • Develop an expertise with high throughput, high availability, low latency services.

  • Partner with development engineers to provide deployment automation best practice guidance.

  • Identify opportunities to solve broad problems with AWS product features, or to contribute feature requests to AWS product roadmaps in support of Twitch development teams.

  • Identify and uphold a high bar for our engineering best practices and operational excellence.

You Have:

  • A degree in Computer Science, a related Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.

  • 7+ years of experience working on large-scale applications (Python, Go or Java).

  • Experience working with highly distributed, available systems.

  • Experience with solving problems with a fact-based or data-based approach; the ability to use a scientific methodology of reasoning, not based on assumptions or prior knowledge.

  • A deep understanding of software versioning control, software delivery automation, and continuous deployment and integration.

  • Ability to deliver software projects, and code, to scale new or existing software services independently.

Bonus Points

  • You have established or stood from ground up a strong testing practice on a sound CICD pipeline.

  • Experience managing builder tools including code repositories and CI/CD pipelines (multi-build and deployment orchestrations, canary, blue-green deployments etc..)

  • Strong understanding of Microservice Architecture concepts

  • Experience with AWS and AWS CDK Infrastructure-as-code

  • You test everything like it is nobody's business

The base pay range for this position in Colorado, Connecticut, Washington and New Jersey is $168,100 - $227,400 yr and in New York City is $184,900 - $250,200 yr. Pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on payment and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
