About The Role

The Head of Brand Safety is a new and exciting role at Twitch, which reports to the Global Head of Sales Marketing based in San Francisco. Twitch strives to be the safest, most inclusive possible place for creators, viewers and brands to create and participate in live entertainment. We’re committed to supporting our advertiser community to ensure that advertisers are able to match their content to the most appropriate and relevant channels on Twitch. Brand Safety is one of the most important issues facing the Advertising community. This is a dedicated role within our Ad Sales organization designed to drive the work that is centered around advertisers. You will educate and communicate our Brand Safety philosophy, approach, policies and enforcement processes to our business partners.

As Twitch continually evolves the policies, technologies, and reporting tools that balance user expression, while ensuring a safe and positive experience for all members, you will shape how we engage with our advertisers to better understand what Brand Safety means on Twitch. You will build strong relationships and solve complicated problems with internal stakeholders in Partnerships, Legal, Public Policy, Product Development, and PR. You will help in the development and enhancement of policies that help shape the expectations and behavior of our community. You will be called-upon to make tough decisions in situations, and to deliver recommendations under tight time pressure, often among senior executives and internal experts with competing viewpoints. You will represent the company among industry peers contributing to the broader conversation about internet safety and its measurement.

Additionally, you will be expected to propose, develop, and lead broader efforts to ensure Twitch is a trusted and safe community for brands and advertisers. You will identify strategies and educational opportunities to help guide meaningful relationships with our Trust and Safety team as well as 3P partners, with the goal of earning trust in Twitch as a safe place for brands to flourish.

You Will

  • Build and own long-term strategy and initiatives that benefit Twitch’s community of advertisers
  • Deliver on the vision for being the safest place to advertise and participate in live-streamed content
  • Assess and adopt best practices that focus on brand safety elements, including viewability, ad fraud, and the context in which advertising appears
  • Partner with cross functional teams to measure risk and develop safety and community guidelines
  • Influence product teams to build and improve abuse detection, analytics, and internal moderation tools
  • Act as point of contact for safety crisis escalations that impact Twitch’s community of advertisers
  • Represent Twitch in front of industry stakeholders on topics related to brand safety
  • Partner with the Sales team to represent advertiser’s interest internally at Twitch

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of leadership in Marketing, Ad Sales, Digital Advertising, and policy engagement for online communities that create user-generated content (UGC)
  • Experience delivering world-class customer experience against core metrics, as well as process improvement.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving abilities that are necessary to analyze data, requirements, and product limitations
  • Ability to analyze complex (multi-dimensional) solution trade-offs and present alternatives that would satisfy solution requirements
  • Excellent collaboration and consensus-building skills
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment . Calm under pressure . Crisis management experience.
  • Excellent collaborator with ability to maintain strong internal and external relationships
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to convey ideas through detailed specifications a
  • Demonstrated passion for digital safety
  • Knowledge of the digital advertising industry
  • High degree of self direction and independent drive.

  • Agency or Media experience
  • Passion for Twitch/Gaming/esports
