The Third Floor London is looking for a Senior Realtime Technical Director for it’s Virtual Production department.

The ideal candidate will come with a minimum of 4 years industry experience and will have extensive experience using Unreal Engine. The Realtime TD will work with our visualization teams to support their work on shows as well as working with the R&D and Pipeline teams to develop tools and apps for the internal teams and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the planning and implementation of new UE editor-based tools and features for both art and development teams.
  • Work with your LA counterparts to collaborate and standardize on set tools and methodologies.
  • Shadow Unreal TAs and TDs to learn common workflow practices.
  • Follow our internal training programs, providing feedback and support to our L&D Team.
  • Aid new starters in exploring internal training program material.
  • Supporting our internal Unreal-ready asset management pipeline.
  • Prepare and curate Marketplace content for active shows.
  • Provide the art team with guidelines for art content creation for Unreal Engine.
  • Work with the art team to ensure in-engine levels are Realtime ready.
  • Create and debug shader and materials graphs throughout production.
  • Document, prototype, and improve the art pipeline.
  • Supply rigged characters and character export tools to the art department.
  • Collaborate in the design and implementation of Virtual Production solutions including Virtual Camera, Multi User Virtual Scouting and AR based runtime apps.
  • Support performance profiling and run time efficiency efforts.
  • Will work to resolve Technical Visualisation (Techvis) needs.
  • Create and debug levels, materials, animation graphs throughout the production.
  • Pioneer new workflows.
  • Work with Supervisors and Artists supporting them with their specific show requirements.
  • Provide technical support for Unreal & Virtual Productions shows.

Essential Skills:

  • Prototype tools and solutions that arise from specific project needs.
  • Excellent knowledge of Unreal Blueprint and gameplay system development.
  • Experience or understanding of the visual effects pipeline.
  • Excellent knowledge of asset and animation pipelines.
  • Experience with Version Control systems and source control software
  • Experience with Editor Utility Blueprints.
  • Experience with Editor Utility Widgets.
  • Ability to work within a team towards a common goal.
  • Proven ability to prioritize conflicting tasks.
  • Has an interest in Photography & Film making.
  • Has a positive “can do? attitude.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience writing tools and UI panels (UMG) for Unreal Engine
  • Excellent Python scripting skills for Maya and Unreal
