Introduction

Technical Artist required full-time for Toronto video game development.

Company

We are a brand new studio working with a renowned publisher on a new IP. Our office is located in the west end of Toronto and we offer competitive salaries, flexible hours, health benefits, unlimited PTO, a relaxed atmosphere and spectacular cookies.

Position

We're looking for a Technical Artist to collaborate with us in the delivery of a first-person action adventure video game.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Art Director to bring the desired art style to life
  • Collaborate closely with the game designers, other artists and programmers to define technically and visually satisfying solutions ;
  • Help establish best practices for creating art assets, VFX, shaders ;
  • Develop tools to aid the art team
  • Develop VFX along with the art team
  • Work with the art team to light the world
  • Knowledge of GPU rendering pipeline and avenues for optimization
  • Work with programmers and the art team for debugging and asset optimization

Required Skills

  • 3+ years of applicable professional experience as a Technical Artist/Technical Director.
  • Experience with shader development
  • Experience working with Unreal Engine 4 and UE4s blueprint system
  • Participated in at least 2 full productions cycles.
  • Experience with game optimization
  • Motivated self starter who can execute with limited supervision

Bonus

  • Experienced developing custom tools
  • Experience in other scripting and programming languages (Maxscript, C# / C++, etc.) is a plus
  • Knowledge of technical animation is a big plus
