At Statespace we’re using cognitive science, artificial intelligence, and video games to revolutionize the way that humans improve.

Our first product, Aim Lab, is a personalized training platform that helps gamers learn about their strengths and weaknesses and train for the game they love. Aim Lab has over 20 million players around the world and is available for free on Steam and even on Roblox. Aim Lab also has official partnerships with some of the biggest publishers, including Riot, and Ubisoft.

Our team consists of scientists, designers, engineers, and game industry vets coming together from places like NYU, MTV, NASA, Yale, Nintendo, and the NFL. We are well-funded and supported by some of the world’s best investors and entrepreneurs, including Khosla Ventures, FirstMark Capital, Lux Capital, Expa Capital, and WndrCo.

Senior Engineering Manager

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead the engineering group on our flagship product effort in Digital Health. Our vision for Digital Health at Statespace is to join cutting edge neuroscience and game design to maximize impact, engagement, and accessibility for modern digital health and wellness needs. Building on our core expertise and success in developing products for esports assessment and training, we are looking to disrupt the digital health and therapeutics industries with our unique perspective on engaging and effective products. Longer term, we envision a portfolio of products intersecting gaming and neuroscience to assess and monitor brain and body function (perception, cognition, and control of movement), to detect brain dysfunction, and for direct therapeutic intervention. This is an opportunity to have a massive impact on the company direction and the health and wellness of many people.

Key Responsibilities

Lead principal engineering efforts for the digital health product development initiatives.
Build an effective digital health engineering team.
Lead and mentor existing engineering team members.
Establish and maintain best practices for product development.
Hit the ground running to quickly start iterating on pre-existing systems.
Collaborate with the other product team leads (product, engineering, design, and science) to define the work and help set priorities.

Ideal Skills

5+ years of Unity3D/C# development experience.
3+ years of Management Experience.
Proficient in version control and managing a codebase.
Strong expertise in Unity Game Development.
Experience profiling and optimizing game performance.
Solid CS fundamentals in algorithms and data structures.
Shipped titles and/or experiences on Steam or mobile.
Excellent communication skills.
Track record of consistently delivering measurable results for users and impacting the companies you work for.
Collaborate with others to make things happen.
Bring order to chaos and complexity.
Listen to your team.
Build consensus by default, and drive hard decisions when needed.
